Company History

Founder Jay Isaacson returned to Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula to start Mohawk Technology in 2013. This came after he had gained more than a decade of engineering experience doing process controls in the dairy industry.

Mohawk Technology’s early work specialized in process systems. This work included controls systems upgrades in cheese plants, and the results improved process automation for major dairy manufacturers.

However, discussions with early customers about factory challenges related to manufacturing automation and workforce needs revealed additional market needs. The company expanded with the development of its Process Group in 2018.

The Process Group allows controls and process engineering to work closely with process installation. It can execute start-to-finish process projects, and has the ability to install cheese vats, CIP systems, pasteurizers along with system upgrades. This streamlines the on-site work and reduces factory downtime for customers, a critical issue in the dairy industry.

In 2019, Mohawk Technology expanded into mechatronics and robotics engineering. This enabled the company to help customers automate functions on factory lines. The installation of robot cells – both with new projects and the replacement of aging robots – helps improve business outcomes for customers.

Capital expansion projects were started in 2022 for a Mechatronics Robot Cell Shop and Process Fabrication Shop. These are expected to be completed in 2023.
